Old argument: "Gays can't serve because they can be blackmailed by someone who threatens to expose them." New argument: "Gays can't serve openly because it lowers morale... or something." (after "don't ask, don't tell") Well, which is it? If gays in the military, and there have always and will always be gays who serve and serve with distinction(!), are willing to out themselves there's no threat of blackmail. If engaging in any sexual act in...

Or "why Microsoft's new Xbox video service is stupid". The Xbox is the best thing Microsoft has done in ages. And one of the few things they've consistently done smartly and right. I'm not an Xbox user, but I'm not about to sit here and say that Xbox Live wasn't a total success and that the Xbox user interface isn't a complete win. I may be a Windows basher, but I'll readily admit that I...

I was prepared to say "now, that's not right." When I read that WRKO host John DePetro was fired for calling Grace Ross a "fat lesbian" on air, My first thought was "here's where we have to take it on the chin and stand up for a jerk in the interest of fairness." Then I read what he said in context....

Booked! It's vacation time, and boy do we need it. And Walt Disney World (and Expedia) are willing to sell it to us. ;) July 31 - Aug 4 at the Contemporary Resort (my idea cuz I've always wanted to stay there). This was also where we took our last real 'big' vacation in '02. We're excited. =D In other news, we're moving to a bigger place on Sept. 15th. It's over near Harvard Square....

New toon. A tribute to Mike Kaluta and Starstruck. I have a complete set again and it's still brilliant 20 years later. See it here...

"Katie who?", you might well ask. Finally an update to Katie Galaxy. This one has no title. You'll see why at: Katie Galaxy....

OK, so I'm pissed off that the White House has openly and without shame started their spin campaign to try to soften the blow to their political image that the Katrina Failure is dealing them. Meanwhile they're telling us and the media that now is not the time to start talking about the failure and who failed to do their job properly. Well, what gives them the right to spend money and resources on this...

Fear not! We have arrived in Boston and are doing just peachy, thanks. We bid a farewell to Australia and family and friends there and... well, here we are. I'm interviewing (two Harvard interviews soon - look like fun jobs). Anywho, I just wanted to say that I hope to do the next Katie installment soon in addition to the other things on deck. The first 'Lense of Bast' book is slated for October (*knock...

Hey hey! Finally a Katie update, eh? Line of Fire: Plan of Action Again I apologize for the sporadic publishing schedule of late, but I've had so much to do it's just been unavoidable. I also apologize for the quick color and lettering job I did on this one. But it works well enough. I just needed to get this one online. It's the end of the first act and... yeah... a good stopping place....

Yes, the news is true! Sarah got her visa/green card and we are headed back to the U.S. When? It's hard to say. Probably around June. Where? Probably Boston. More as it develops. PS - JohnnyK, I keep meaning to reply. Soon!...

Dear Jesse Jackson (and MSNBC, CNN, FOX, etc.), She's not starving to death. She's dehydrating. Stop comparing her to some 3rd world dying child. But, on that note, I guarantee you there is a starving child within 1/2 mile of you at this very instant. Go feed them. Terri Schiavo's life has long been over, that kid's is not. FACT: Schiavo was examined by 8 doctors. 7 concurred (not the four that some *cough* 'news'...

Dear Katie readers, thank you so much for your patience and for putting up with me keeping you in the dark. The latest installment is up and, I'm sad to say, the next will probably be late as well. Bear with me. :) I'll try to make it worth your while in the end. And I promise not to keep you in the dark this time. I'll update the news when I have an idea...

Happy Valentine's Day to you all. And especially to my wonderful wife who puts up with me and loves me even when I've got my head buried at my desk. I love you, sweety. Line of Fire: Target...

I'm really busy right now (just finished an anthology piece, a cover, have another one in the works and I'm inking a full length book), so the next Katie Galaxy was pushed out til the 15th (earlier if I can get to it - it's mostly penciled). But I wanted to note here that I just updated my journal comic. It's in regards to Will Eisner and my wanting to do something in tribute to...
