If you have broadband* and you don't watch the Tiki Bar TV... you're dead to me.

On a lighter note, registration is open for this years Comikaze 24hr comic challenge (formerly known as The 24hrs in Oz Comics Chall... meh, too much typing. You know what I'm talking about...)

* - and, more specifically, the non-ass-raping kind such as Telstra (or anyone using its tubes) serves up where you're metered like a child who watches too much TV...

Free Comics Day was yesterday. We went to Million Year Picnic and New England Comics and both picked up some free booty as well as spent some $ to show we appreciated it. Here's a pic of that haul plus things I've bought lately.

Matt (from MacHall) has apparently been fired from his job by the Freaked-Out-by-Fox-News'-Scrolling-Ticker-of-Doom* people sheeple at his [former] job. I mean... SERIOUSLY... in this gun-crazed weapon-obsessed "shoot first ask questions on the late news" John Fucking Wayne Swagger society we've built up in this country... this guy gets fired for talking about, of all things, a target rifle?
Look you mentally-challenged fucktards! You can have the NRA's Gunirvana or you can have sensible gun control and sleep at night and stop freaking out at work and getting people fired! You can't have both! You. Fucking. Retards! You cow-brained slow-witted dolts make me really angry! You're all for shooting a bunch of people you don't know, but when you make some totally irrational leap of logic out of dim-witted fear and stampede you just end up hurting people. But I'm NOT angry enough to get a gun and thin the herd because _I_ believe in sensible gun control! Even you, the IQ-average decreasers, the lowest common denominator, the pandered-to middle, even you deserve to live -- but you don't deserve to have any control over other people's lives! RARGH!
Anyway... please pass this story on (not my rant, of course). One of our own has been trampled by the mindless herd and we need to pick him up if we can. Anyone got a good electric prod?

* - Seriously... their damned ticker is still just as fear-mongering, strident and histrionic as it was on Sept. 12th. '01.

Farewell, Wally Schirra. You were an exceptional human and a good guy.

Two things I done did this week.

Mistah Bones (Sharpie and Prismacolors on A3, everything else in Photoshop). What do you think? T-shirt???

mistah_bones.jpg

Leia. Ink on A4, then coloured in Photoshop. (I felt like my nerd cred was suffering. I haven't drawn anything from Star Wars since the 80s.) Inspired by the manga-like toy/bust you may have seen (I can't be assed to find a pic).

I neglected to mention that Episode 2 of the 'Pulp Faction - Comics in Australia' Podcast is out.

It's an hour long (and that's a merciless edit - we had nearly 2 hours in the can) and I so can't wait to do the next one!

Hmmm... what about this?

Livejournal - Sat, 04/21/2007 - 03:37
Did I post this? (some of you may have seen it inside a tutorial video hehe)
It 's a bit older.

Something I did a month or so ago.

So... apparently Dell is going to start offering Windows XP again as an option because so many customers are asking for it instead of Vista. *

In other news, Microsoft sold 244 copies of Vista in China. (there are no zeroes missing from that number)
As one person put it "244 master discs for pirates". (actually, my guess is that the gov't order 100 and 12 pirates each ordered a case. hehe)

But Xbox is kickin' ass. That reminds me... something I wrote recently at Helium (just to see what the hub-bub was about). In it, I praise the Xbox and downplay OSX's rise in market share**. No. Seriously. See?

* - I saw this happen just last week. The first faculty member to buy a new PC pre-loaded with Vista. He was in my office asking after an XP disk within about 4 days. (and yeah, it was a Dell, funnily enough)
** - Hef probably just had a coronary. Someone please check on him?

Anthology of Graphic Fiction

Latest Book - Mon, 04/16/2007 - 03:32

A nice big anthology with some of the best short subject artists and writers doing indy comics today (and some who are not so indy). Well worth the price and looks good on the coffee table, too.

Hypocrisy hides hate

Old argument: "Gays can't serve because they can be blackmailed by someone who threatens to expose them." New argument: "Gays can't serve openly because it lowers morale... or something." (after "don't ask, don't tell") Well, which is it? If gays in the military, and there have always and will always be gays who serve and serve with distinction(!), are willing to out themselves there's no threat of blackmail. If engaging in any sexual act in...

Or "why Microsoft's new Xbox video service is stupid". The Xbox is the best thing Microsoft has done in ages. And one of the few things they've consistently done smartly and right. I'm not an Xbox user, but I'm not about to sit here and say that Xbox Live wasn't a total success and that the Xbox user interface isn't a complete win. I may be a Windows basher, but I'll readily admit that I...

I was prepared to say "now, that's not right." When I read that WRKO host John DePetro was fired for calling Grace Ross a "fat lesbian" on air, My first thought was "here's where we have to take it on the chin and stand up for a jerk in the interest of fairness." Then I read what he said in context....

Just who the hell is Maggie McFee?
